Slow down, speed kills

Now that the Easter break is over, the normal volumes of traffic are likely to resume on our roads.
Children are back at school, and school zone speeds of 40km/h are back in force during 7am – 9am, and 2pm – 4pm.
Police would like to remind motorists to take care on the roads and consider their speed when driving.
Speeding is a major factor in serious and fatal traffic crashes. It’s not just about driving faster than the speed limit, it’s also about driving faster than the road or weather conditions allow.
Speeding can also be a major factor when considering the condition of the vehicle being driven and the skills of the person behind the wheel.
Studies have proven that travelling as few as 5km over the speed limit can double your chances of having a serious crash.
