Could your work hang in the wards and waiting areas of Woolloongabba’s Princess Alexandra Hospital expansion, a project costing more than $748 million, if you have a link to the hospital?
Registrations close at 2 p.m. AEST on Wednesday, 11 November 2026.
Walls that People Actually See

Think back to the last time you waited in a hospital. What was on the walls? Artworks from this process could appear in a longer list of spots than the ones above, including arrival areas, interview rooms, hallways, corridors and staff zones.
The call is open to many art forms, from photographs, textiles and framed prints to canvases, wall decals, and digital, light and sound pieces. Some works may need to be supplied as high-quality digital files. For artists with a personal tie to the hospital, these are spaces used by patients, families and staff.
What the Expansion Adds
The artwork call sits inside a much bigger build. Metro South Health lists extra inpatient beds, extended and renovated buildings, and new cancer and kidney disease treatment services.
The health service says the project will add 249 inpatient beds and 13 cancer treatment bays, and the structure was topped out in May 2026. The stated aim is to make services easier for the community to reach and to boost specialist and emergency care.
Who Can Register

Artists and collectives can both take part, as long as they can show a link to the PA Hospital and are ready to develop ideas with project teams. Queensland Health employees can’t register because of probity and conflict-of-interest rules. Applicants also need a current Australian Business Number, or ABN, or must be willing to apply for one. Registering is a first step, not a commission. Arts Queensland describes these registrations as the entry point to artwork commissions and acquisitions led by Health Infrastructure Queensland.
What to Send
Applicants complete the registration of interest response form, including its required declarations, and add a biography of up to 100 words about their connection to the hospital. A résumé of no more than two pages should show their ABN, experience and portfolio links, along with up to five images of past work. The form was updated on Oct. 26 because the date and time of the Artist Information Session changed, so check the latest version for the new details.
Email entries and questions to Jordan Cardenas, principal advisor procurement, at HIQProcurement@health.qld.gov.au. Entries that arrive late or leave out required items might not be assessed.
