It’s amazing what can be achieved when people come together to help one another.
As officers of the Queensland Police Service, we serve with honour and for one particular initiative, have literally given the shirts off our backs to help those in need.
The initiative – Uniform 4 Kids which kicked off earlier this year, allowed our officers from all 22 stations in the South Brisbane District to donate their unwanted uniforms to be transformed by extremely talented individuals into unique items for young disadvantaged children.
Officers with the transformed uniforms
What was once a reflector vest, is now a practical tote bag… What was once a formal shirt is now a fancy smock.. what was once a pair of operational pants is now an trendy set of shorts to beat this summers heat.
The aims of this program include:
Improving self-esteem and giving children in need a real sense of pride.
Reducing bullying.
Bridging the communication gap
