Yesterday, March 8, was International Women’s Day and to mark the occasion the annual Women in Policing Awards was held at the RNA showgrounds.
The efforts and contributions of women employed in public sector agencies (QPS, QAS, QFRA, PSBA) were recognised across ten award categories.
One of these was awarded to a team of inspirational police women from the South Brisbane Police District for Excellence in Law Enforcement for Women Initiatives.
These women were involved in the Connected Women programme. This programme was developed and implemented in the South Brisbane District in partnership with the Islamic Womens Association of Australia. It pairs newly arrived Muslim women with female police mentors.
