West End Police Station has increased its ability to keep the local community safe while using service issued mountain bikes.
West End Bike Squad training officer Constable Pete Conradie recently conducted a two day course to train three of his colleagues also stationed at West End to safely and effectively utilise QPS Bicycles to perform their general policing duties.
West End Station currently has a permanent four person Bike Squad who perform the majority of their duties on bikes.
Due to the effectiveness of bicycles as a policing tool within a diverse inner city and urbanised environment like West End and South Brisbane, West End Police have been gradually training more of their other front line officers on bikes.
Bicycle officers at West End can be called upon to respond to routine or high priority calls for assistance, actively patrol hotspots to deter criminal activity, provide a visible police presence in highly patronised public
