A 47-year-old Capalaba man has been charged with seven offences including dangerous driving after a vehicle allegedly attempted to drive up the front steps of police headquarters around 11.45pm last night (January 29).
Police investigations indicate that the incident appears to be opportunistic in nature and that the driver did not have any specific issue with the Queensland Police Service.
It will be alleged the vehicle reversed at the main entrance to the building but was unable to drive all the way up the steps.
The steps sustained minor damage consisting of scratches and small chips.
The vehicle drove off with a member of the public calling police around midnight advising that the vehicle had side swiped another vehicle on the Captain Cook Bridge.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle as it headed southbound on the Pacific Motorway at Tarragindi but it allegedly failed to stop.
