Police from the South Brisbane District recently completed the Bike Squad Training Course. The demanding course puts officers though their paces and consists of a two-day training program that sees officers riding about 50 kilometers, 15 of which is off-road.
Acting Sergeant Michael Yau, Constables David Haigh, Warwick Steventon, Rich Waterson, and Sam Engel spent day one riding in busy traffic and made their way up Mount Gravatt to the lookout, before riding into Southbank for a well earned lunch. From there it was up Highgate Hill before returning to Upper Mount Gravatt Station that afternoon.
After a well deserved sleep, officers returned their tired, sore and reluctant bodies for a skills session on the mountain bike tracks in the Karawatha Forest. The loose gravel trails and obstacles offer participants the chance to hone their off-road riding abilities and develop their bike handling skills further.
