In a four-week period from February 3 to March 3, seven trailers were stolen in the Moorooka area from both business premises and residential properties, representing almost two per week.
All trailer types have been targeted by thieves including tool trailers, camper trailers, box trailers, trailered boats and caravans. Trailers are hard to locate after they are stolen so it’s better to prevent the offence from occurring in the first place.
Effective security measures are the best criminal deterrent and we ask that the following is considered:
Place trailer in a location that can only be accessed by you and your vehicle.
Use a wheel locking device or a locking device over the ball connection of the trailer.
Secure the trailer away behind locked gates where possible.
Don’t leave property in the trailers for longer than necessary.
Call police immediately if your trailer or number plate is stolen.
Finally, trailer owners are urged to avoid leaving trailers parked
