Cyclists young and old attended the event!
Police from the South Brisbane Crime Prevention Unit joined in the festivities at the Brisbane Cycling Festival at Southbank over the weekend.
Police spoke with many cyclists, young and old, and provided them with a variety of give-a-ways and road safety messages.
As well as messages of road safety, advice was also given on bike safety and security and many security tips were given to cyclists including:
Never leaving your bike unattended and unlocked – always use a quality lock;
Lock as much of your bike as possible including, the back wheel and frame to a rack if possible or removing the front wheel and locking it as well;
Locking your bike to a solid object rather than something which can be cut or damaged or removed; and
Securing your bike when at home by keeping it in a locked shed or garage or inside your home.
