Speedy arrest results in return of stolen Christmas present

Last night at about 10.50pm, five teenagers gathered socially near the Brisbane Wheel in South Bank Parklands.
It is alleged that a 22-year-old man approached one of the teenagers and ripped a gold chain from his neck, which the victim had just received as an early Christmas gift from his father. It is also alleged that the man then stolen the victim’s baseball cap before walking away.
South Bank officers promptly responded to a call for service and located the man on Grey Street, South Brisbane. The officers arrested the man and allegedly located both items of stolen property in his possession.
Detectives subsequently charged the man with one count of robbery with violence and one count of wilful damage and he appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, December 20.
OIC South Bank Police Sergeant Johan Louw passed on praise from the victim to the officers involved and congratulated them on a job well
