On Thursday, July 4, officers from the South Brisbane District officially launched their Operation Wake Up – Be Street Wise campaign.
The key message behind Be Street Wise is to remind all community members to be prepared and alert when walking and travelling in public.
Our focus is to keep the community safe by providing advice to the public about being vigilant about their personal and property safety while around shopping centres, public spaces, entertainment precincts and high pedestrian traffic areas.
Last night, we had crime prevention officers, Police Liaison Officers (PLOs), Policelink officers, Volunteers in Policing (ViPs) and new recruits assisting at the pop up tables in different shopping centres across the Bayside, Centenary, Riverside and South Brisbane Patrol Groups.
We also had our specialist units including:
Tactical crime squad;
Mounted unit;
Road Policing Unit; and
General duties officers, delivering the Be Street Wise message to the public.
