Slow down for school pedestrians

This morning, South Brisbane District Crime Prevention attended several schools in the Riverside area including Yeronga, Dutton Park, South Brisbane and West End to remind and encourage motorist behaviour while driving in 40km/h school zones.
This message was delivered using an unmarked police van with messaging clearly visible by all motorists and forms part of the South Brisbane District’s Operation Wake Up Strategy.
Sergeant Michelle Mullen reported that on approach to school 40km/h zoned areas, it was very encouraging to observe many motorists complying with speed restrictions, an important part in keeping children and adults safe.
Police continue to encourage motorists to comply to speed limitations while in school zones between 7am and 9am in the mornings and from 2pm to 4pm in the afternoons, unless otherwise signed.
Over the next week, South Brisbane District Police will continue to enforce, educate, and encourage road safety during Operation Wake Up.
