On Wednesday August 28, as part of Queensland Road Safety Week, the South Brisbane District Crime Prevention Unit teamed up with Transport Main Roads, Road Policing Unit and Kids Safe to promote, educate and encourage both adults and children on the importance of wearing seat belts and appropriately fitted child restraints.
This event was hosted at Westfield Garden City with the support of the Westfield Garden City Management.
It is very pleasing to see how well the community responded to this important road safety message and in particular, young children who also play a pivotal role in educating and driving the message home.
Acting Sergeant Sarah Ellis said although the campaign had been around for a long time, police were still intercepting too many vehicles without restraints.
“We know that appropriately fitted restraints saves lives, we really need to get it right,” Acting Sergeant Ellis said.
