Police Liaison Officer Rhonda Reid has retired from South Brisbane District on October 27 after 22 years of service within the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and is the last Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Police Liaison Officer from the original group sworn in 1995.
Police Liaison Officers’ role is to assist in developing trust and understanding between members of the QPS and local communities, by developing engagement and liaison mechanisms with local indigenous and multicultural communities.
Aunt Rhonda has been exceptional in her role and maintaining professional relationships with local community leaders. She strove in the Indigenous Licensing Program to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to obtain their Learner Licence throughout Queensland as far as places in the North West, Far North and the Torres Strait Islands.
Aunt Rhonda is well received and respected by both members of the QPS and our community. It may be time to say goodbye but
