Reminder to be security conscious about your mail

Police in South Brisbane District are aware of a recent increase in thefts from mailboxes.
Offenders have allegedly targeted mailboxes in units and townhouse complexes, as well as multi-residential foyers and mail rooms where parcels and large items are left for collection.
Opportunistic offenders target unlocked mailboxes and steal mail containing important personal information such as credit cards, licences, or even packages and parcels.
A number of offenders have been caught and charged, some with with more than one offence.
A 41-year-old Yeronga woman has been was charged with numerous offences of stealing things sent by post, stealing and other fraud offences and is due to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 3.
Police are urging residents to secure their mailboxes. Consider installing a padlock or alternative locking device and try to make alternative arrangements for parcel delivery, or ensure someone is home to take delivery of your items.
