QPS celebrates with Damini Women’s Association of Queensland

Representatives from the South Brisbane District Police Liaison Office recently had the privilege of addressing community leaders, politicians and academics at a recent International Women’s Day event hosted by the Damini Women’s Association of Queensland Inc at the RSL Community Hall in Sunnybank.
The theme for the event was “To Serve Humanity” and Senior Police Liaison Officer (PLO) Mary Kenyi and I spoke on the role of our unit and how we help bridge the gap between the QPS and the cultural community.
Other speakers included Duncan Pegg and Peter Russo MP, Cr. Kim Marx and Lila Pratap, the Founder/ President of the Damini Women’s Association.
Attendees were treated to a sumptuous Indian feast and several cultural performances throughout the evening.
The event was a huge success and a fantastic addition to this year’s festivities celebrating women in our community.
