Police are investigating a number of fake social media posts regarding the novel coronavirus outbreak.
“Our communities have been hurt by these false and racist posts. We are working hard to identify those responsible,” Inspector Mark Stewart of the Mount Gravatt Patrol Group said.
Of concern to police are posts giving false and misleading information on how to seek medical assistance.
“Queensland Health (QHealth) is working extremely hard to keep the community informed on the impact of coronavirus. All current information can be found on the QHealth website, the QHealth Facebook Page or by phoning 13HEALTH,” Inspector Stewart said.
If you have any information regarding these fake social media posts, please contact police through Policelink on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
