Queensland Police were out and about across a number of bus interchanges across the South Brisbane District on Friday, January 24.
Their plan? To engage with patrons, visitors and the community and relay important messages on alcohol fuelled violence, home and personal safety information as well as information regarding the recent changes to the law towards mobile phone use and safer driving.
Officers pop up on public transport
District Crime Prevention Officers, Police Liaison Officers (PLOs) and Volunteers in Policing (ViPs) were based at Garden City, Inala and Capalaba bus interchanges along with officers from Translink.
Team leader, Acting Sergeant Vernon Wootton said that the officers were focusing on getting safety messages across to locals.
“It’s imperative that the community understand the impacts of alcohol fuelled violence,” Acting Sergeant Wootton said.
