Police bikes really kicking goals

On Saturday, Police from the South Brisbane District braved another perfect winters day, to meet and greet with footy fans at the Gabba.
Police on bicycles were there as a part of a road safety initiative, promoting safety and good will between bike riders, and other road users.

Senior Sergeant Wayne Richter, from Wynnum Police Station said it was important motor vehicle drivers share the road with bike riders, and act with courtesy and patience.
“It’s equally import that bike riders obey the road rules, ride safely, and be visible to other drivers,” Senior Sergeant Richter said.
“Bike riders are some of our most vulnerable road users, and should exercise safe riding at all times.”

Drivers are reminded that they must give one metre distance when passing bike riders in a 60klm/h zone or less, and 1.5 metres when the speed limit is higher.
