Last week, Inspector Mark Stewart and Officer in Charge of Moorooka Police Station Senior Sergeant Anthony Collins attended MMG Auto (Moorooka Motor Group) with members of the Commissioner’s Christmas Committee to collect a significant donation for the 2019 Queensland Police Service (QPS) Foodbank Drive.
Chris Byrne from MMG Auto had a goal of collecting some items at his workplace to donate to the drive, but he was blown away by the amount of generous donations and support he has received by his community and colleagues as he collected over 500kg of food for families in need.
Chris said he first heard about the drive on the QPS Facebook page when Commissioner Katarina Carroll launched the drive on November 7.
“We’ve been collecting items to donate for just under three weeks and on Friday we were able to donate 530kg of non-perishable items,” Chris said.
Inspector Stewart said he was incredibly moved by the generosity
