Over the past two weeks, police across the South Brisbane District have been working tirelessly to keep our communities safe over the Easter Holiday period.
Since the launch of the Easter road safety campaign, there have been two enforcement operations and eight community engagement events to build community awareness about the Fatal Five – the five behaviours that contribute most significantly to deaths and serious injuries on our roads:
Speeding;
Driving under the influence of substances (drugs and/or alcohol);
Not wearing a seatbelt;
Driving whilst fatigued; and
Driving while distracted (including mobile devices).
The results of the operation so far are as follows:
Roadside Breath Tests
2030
Traffic infringement notices issued
26
Street checks
19
Drink driving offences
9
Drug driving offences
2
