The Carina Police Station has re-commenced push bike patrols in the local Police Division with Senior Constable Jake Ostini and Constable Matt Rogers deploying for operational duties today.
A recent spike in calls for service along bike paths and local park lands has led to the re-invigoration of the Carina Police Station Bike Squad.
Officers at Carina have undergone a specific skills training course for these deployments.
They are equipped with all of the same operational accoutrements as the officers in our patrol vehicles, but with one major difference – pedal power not horse power.
Bicycle patrols will be a permanent feature in the Carina Division with plans to expand our current crop of bicycles from 2 – 5 in the coming months.
As well as operational taskings and general patrols, our bike cops will be deployed at local schools, shopping centres and parks to increase our community engagement levels.
