Constable Gemmell and students from Salisbury Sate School
On Monday, October 15 Salisbury State School officially adopted their first adopt a cop. Constable Katie Gemmell from Moorooka Police was sworn in as the official adopt a cop for Salisbury State School in front of the entire school assembly and parents on Monday afternoon.
Constable Gemmell will be known as Constable Katie at Salisbury State School.
A formal certificate of adoption was signed and presented to the Principal Darren Ball.
Constable Gemmell is looking forward to building relationships with the school community and attending major school events throughout the year.
Moorooka Police have a number of police officers keen to become adopt a cops for schools within the Moorooka Division. Moorooka Police have made contact with all schools, both state and private, within the Moorooka Police Division.
It was due to the quick response and enthusiasm of Principal Darren Ball that this adoption occurred so quickly.
