Morningside police would like to remind motorists to secure their vehicles to deter opportunistic thieves.
Over the past few weeks we have conducted patrols in and around the Morningside, Bulimba, Hawthorne and Balmoral areas. Disturbingly, in a large number of cases, vehicles left unattended were not locked.
From experience we know that if we make it easy for criminals, they have a tendency to return and also pass this information onto associates.
There are a few simple things that people can do to help prevent their vehicles and/or their valuables being stolen from vehicles.
Motorists are reminded to:
Lock doors and ensure windows are up
Use anti – theft devices ie steering locks, alarms, engine immobilisers etc.
Place valuables in the boot, glove box, centre console or under blankets so thieves aren’t tempted to target your vehicle.
Do not leave keys under the seat, under wheel arches or in the ignition.
Park your vehicle in an area where there is
