Morningside State Primary School Adopt-A-Cop, Constable Herb Acosta and police from Morningside Station recently participated in the ‘Pedal with a principal’ day to promote an active lifestyle amongst our children.
Officers rode with the kids, Principal Wendy Hoskin and Morningside State Primary School teachers from the Hawthorne ferry to the school in efforts to educate kids on the benefits of exercise, and to have a bit of fun along the way.
Police educated the kids about road safety, the importance of following instructions and obeying the road rules when riding a bike on our roads.
Constable Acosta said he enjoyed working with students to promote the importance of physical health and exercise.
“This community and police partnership initiative is great for the kids to learn how to be active and safe at the same time.” he said.
Senior Constable Mel Armstrong and Constable Alistair Smith helped the kids cross the road by conducting traffic control and teaching
