First patrol for newest mounted police officer

There’s a bit of a difference to Senior Constable Paul Ovreseth’s step this shift.  It’s a four-beat step.  On a horse.
Sergeant Teala Muller and Senior Constable Ovreseth took to patrolling Forest Lake (Oxley Division) today in order for the newest Mounted Police officer to ‘learn the ropes’.  The logistics of carrying everything you need to do the job from the back of a horse proved a challenge for Senior Constable Ovreseth who is used to working from a vehicle and completing paperwork at a desk.

“Members of the community enjoyed seeing the horses and interacting with us,” he said. “They approached us and were genuinely interested in who we are and what our role is. I’m not used to this side of policing but it’s great.”
Following some random breath tests, street checks and community engagement. the horses made their way over to Forest Lake Shopping Centre, checking vehicles were secure and providing
