On Saturday November 9, police from the Sunnybank Police Beat joined together with Hoyts Sunnybank and Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream to educate the public about personal safety and provide a refresher on the current Queensland road rules at the Sunnybank Plaza pop-up community event.
Police provided information and advice to the public about the current road rules while members of the public, young and old, participated in a series of road rule trivia quiz.
The quiz covered all aspects of road rules for pedestrians, bike riders, motorists and drivers and also reinforcing the Fatal Five. The Fatal Five include speeding, drink and drug driving, fatigue, distraction and inattention, and seatbelts; all of which are common contributing factors in fatal traffic crashes.
Some teenagers found the quizzes challenging and toddlers were answering with the help from their parents.
The pop-up event was well received with young kids educated and rewarded with ice cream.
