Acting Sergeant Vernon Wootton, was recently relieving in the position of Cross Cultural Liaison Officer at the Upper Mount Gravatt Station for six weeks.
During his relieving period, Vernon has been responsible for coordinating over a dozen Police Liaison Officers throughout the district, he also provided support to the Volunteers in Police (VIiPs) and the South Brisbane District Crime Prevention Coordinators. He also maintained his work as a Peer Support Officer at the Upper Mount Gravatt Station.
Acting Sergeant Wootton, who is of New Zealand heritage, comes from an education support background. He migrated to Australia and found himself working with key not-for-profit organisations before transitioning to the Queensland Police Service.
Acting Sergeant Wootton has been quite active since he started in this role and he has assisted with a number of initiatives such as; Eid Celebrations at the Islamic College of Brisbane, the Inala Multicultural Youth Day, NAIDOC Week celebrations, Bangladesh community
