The Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB), Karawatha was the place to be for Eid Celebrations last weekend as thousands flocked to the school to take part in festivities throughout the brisk winter’s day. Eid represents the end of Ramadan, the month-long period of fasting.
Police Liaison Officer Hamza Shale said this is a time where we can come together to celebrate with family, friends and the wider community. This year’s event was by the largest to date, since it’s inception in 2016.
The school hosted multiple clothing, market and food stalls intertwined with activities such as rides, sack races, sporting competitions, magic shows and animal farm displays. Lots of entertainment for all ages.
Acting Senior Sergeant Vernon Wootton said the highlight for most was the helicopter joy rides spanning across the day.
“What better way to see this beautiful landscape of ours,” he said.
