The month of May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.
Domestic and Family Violence is when one person in a relationship uses violence or abuse to control the other person and is usually an ongoing pattern of behaviour aimed at controlling a partner through fear.
Regardless of whether you are a young person or an older person, whether you have been in your relationship for many years or just a short time, it’s important to consider whether your relationship is safe and respectful.
The Queensland Police Service is committed to working in partnership with the people of Queensland to provide professional policing services that will, over time, prevent and reduce the incidents of domestic violence in Queensland.
Each May, Queensland marks Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month (DFVP Month) to raise community awareness of domestic and family violence and to send a clear message that violence of this sort will not be tolerated.
