Bayside and Riverside police team up for Operation Wake Up

If you drove anywhere near the Mount Gravatt Capalaba Road and State Route 30 and 21 in Mackenzie and Burbank last night, there was a good chance you saw Operation Wake Up.
Operation Wake Up, focuses on a operational and educational response to the current road fatalities and crashes within South Brisbane District.
Over 20 police from Bayside and Riverside patrol groups along with compliance officers from Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), were out in force at the major intersection targeting the Fatal Five – Speeding, Seat belts, Drink/Drug Driving, Fatigue and Distraction.
By far, the vast majority of drivers tested saw the friendly face of policing and were left to go their own way after passing roadside breath tests (RBT), roadside drug tests (RDT) and vehicle compliance checks.
Some were not so fortunate.

Four drivers exceeded the alcohol limit (low range);
Five drivers returned positive drug
