In recent days, multi-level living residents in South Brisbane have had a number of bicycles stolen from underground storage units located in basement parking storage cage areas.
Officers are encouraging all bicycle owners to work together with police as it only takes a few seconds for a bicycle to be stolen. In many cases, when a bicycle is stolen, it cannot be identified and is sadly never returned to the owner.
You can help to reduce the the chance of your bicycle being stolen by implementing the following crime prevention tips:
Ensuring storage cages are securely locked and secure;
Ensure bicycles themselves are locked and secure to something solid within the cage;
If possible securing your bike in a busy, well-lit location area where it can easily be seen and under CCTV surveillance; and
If possible, take off the front wheel and secure it to the frame or back wheel or take it up to your
