At the next Coffee with a Cop event on Russell Island, you will be joined by Centre for Women and Co (Domestic Violence Support agency) and the South Brisbane Vulnerable persons Unit.
This is your opportunity to raise issues with police and discuss what is important to you. Recently, concerns have been raised in relation to community safety so ensure you come along and have a chat with both police and Centre for Women and Co staff.
At Coffee with a Cop, you can find out about local crime and how you can play your part to keep yourself and your community safe, by enhancing crime prevention.

On Tuesday, July 14, an Emporio Armani watch was located in a garden bed outside shops at the corner of Illaweena and Beaudesert Road, Calamvale.
The finder has since handed the watch into Police at Browns Plains Police Station.
The watch has a silver metal band and dark coloured face. 
On closer inspection of the watch, police noticed it had been engraved on the back with a personal inscription that would mean something to its rightful owner.

Police are hoping to reunite the watch with its rightful owner. 
If this is you, please attend the Browns Plains Police Station with identification and proof of ownership.
If this watch is yours and has been purposely discarded, please also contact police to inform the watch can be disposed of with appropriate proof of ownership.

New South Wales areas have been added to Queensland border restrictions following the declaration of two new COVID-19 hotspots today.
From midday Tuesday, July 14, anyone who has been in the local government areas of Liverpool or Campbelltown in the past 14 days will not be able to enter Queensland.
The whole state of Victoria also remains a declared COVID-19 hotspot.
Queensland’s border restrictions mean people who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot within the last 14 days will no longer be able to quarantine in Queensland and will be turned away at the state’s border.
Queensland residents who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot can return home but will be required to quarantine in government provided accommodation at their expense.
The Chief Health Officer declared the New South Wales areas as hotspots following a public alert of multiple cases of COVID-19 being traced to the Crossroads Hotel at Casula.

On Saturday, officers were working in Solway Street, Carina when they noticed a little budgie all by himself.
Without feather ado, officers smuggled him away to safety and took him to the station.
Bird on the street is that he was very spoilt while he was waiting to be pecked up.

We are pleased to let you know that ‘Patrick’ the budgie has returned to his home where he shares a cage with his best mate ‘Happy.’
Thanks to the officers who did an im-peck-able job at looking after Patrick.

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Alexandra Hills overnight.
Preliminary investigations indicate, around 11.35pm a car travelling on Finucane Road collided with a female pedestrian.
The woman was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with critical injuries.
The driver was not physically harmed.
Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for anyone in the vicinity of Finucane or McDonald Roads, who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage, to contact police.

A 52-year-old male sergeant from Operations Support Command who was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service will now return to operational duties.
The officer was stood down in relation to an offence of drink driving.  The court proceedings and disciplinary hearing in relation to this matter have now been finalised.

Twenty-two people were issued infringements for speeding during a three-hour police operation at Yatala yesterday.
Non-traditional enforcement methods were employed along Stanmore Road to detect those breaking the law.
Four people were issued infringements for speeding at more than 40km/h over the sign-posted speed limit of 80km/h. The highest speed recorded was a motorcyclist travelling at 172km/h.
One learner driver, who was detected at 116km/h, also received infringements for driving unaccompanied and not displaying his L-plates.
Superintendent David Johnson said police continue to see high speeds detected on Queensland roads despite an increased police presence as part of Operation Cold Snap.
“In the first week of the operation, we have issued more than 3,100 infringements for speeding,” Superintendent Johnson said.
“This means more than 3,100 people have made a decision to put their own life and the lives of others at risk by speeding – and they are only the ones we have detected.”

Police are investigating following the seizure of a significant amount of cash from a vehicle at Eight Mile Plains yesterday.
A station wagon was intercepted by police on the Pacific Motorway around 8.30am.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered $4.35 million in cash notes stacked inside a suitcase and a box.
The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old Strathpine man, was charged with receiving tainted property and was due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning (August 8).
Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the funds.

A man has been charged after a road policing officer’s motorcycle was struck by a ute at Belmont overnight.
Around 8.30pm, the officer was conducting traffic enforcement on the northbound lanes of the Gateway Motorway near Mount Gravatt Capalaba Road when he detected a ute allegedly travelling at speed towards the Old Cleveland Road exit.
The officer intercepted the vehicle near the Old Cleveland Road off-ramp.
As the officer approached the ute it will be alleged the driver reversed at speed for a distance, colliding with the front of the police motorcycle causing it to fall onto its side and sustain minor damage.
The ute was later located in Parkridge Avenue at Caboolture where the alleged driver, a 60-year-old man, was arrested without incident.
The 60-year-old man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and serious assault of a police officer.
He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on September
