This coming Friday, police from Moorooka Station will be joined by local Queensland Fire and Emergency Services officers to host a free community information session.
You’re invited to come along and learn about how you can prepare yourself and your property in the event of an emergency such as a bushfire or severe storm.
When: Friday November 29, 6pm – 8pm
Where: Wellers Hill Bowls Club, 164 Sexton Street, Tarragindi
An unprepared property is not only at risk itself but may also present an increased danger for neighbours, so make sure you come along to this free community information session this Friday to find out how you can do your part in being prepared.

The emotional highs and lows of being a police officer are well documented in all facets of media in this day and age.
Sometimes the little moments, the special moments are lost on us all and we miss opportunities to truly engage with our community and make that difference to someone’s life, which was the main reason so many of us joined the job for in the beginning.
So, when Mstr Lekai Lim contacted the Carina Police Station to invite us to his fifth birthday party recently, there was no chance we were going to miss this opportunity.
Lekai’s father described in great detail the admiration that Lekai has for police and his desire to serve as a Police Officer one day.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a fast food store on Saturday night at Victoria Point.
Around 11.30pm, November 23, a man has entered a Colburn Avenue store armed with a claw hammer.
The man has demanded cash from a staff member and then fled with a small amount of cash.
It is believed he was wearing blue track pants with white stripes, black shoes and a black hoodie.
Investigators are urging anyone who may recognise the man in this vision or who may have information to contact police.

Police from the Brisbane Forensic Crash Unit are investigating a serious car and two pedestrians incident that occurred last night at Morningside.
Around 9pm a red Mitsubishi ASX was travelling along Pashen Street when it collided with two pedestrians.
A 77-year-old Morningside man was transported to hospital with a large head laceration and spinal issues. He remains in a serious condition.
A 70-year-old Morningside woman was also transported to hospital with a broken left leg and fractures.
The driver a 40-year-old woman from Cannon Hill was not injured in the incident and is assisting police with their investigation.
Officers are asking anyone who may witnessed the incident, or who may have dash cam footage or CCTV of the area at the time to please contact them.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a supermarket at Forest Lake last night.
At 8.40pm, two people entered the Woogaroo Street business armed with axes and demanded money.
Two female store attendants, aged 17 and 19, managed to run to safety through the back door.
The armed men then removed a quantity of cigarettes as well as personal property including a handbag and a wallet before they then ran out the front door.
The duo, who were dressed in all black, ran along Forest Lake Boulevarde towards Alpine Place.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.

Police investigations into the death of two people at Sunnybank Hills continues.
Police were called to a Macbeth Place home shortly after 2.30pm today (November 19) where the bodies of a man and woman were located in separate rooms of the home.
At this time the cause of death is unknown with police forensic and scientific examinations of the house continuing.
Preliminary examinations indicate the 54-year-old man and 58-year-old woman may have been deceased for some time prior to police attending today.
Post Mortem examinations are expected to be conducted tomorrow.
The pair were located deceased by their frail 89-year-old mother who lived with them at this address. She managed to alert neighbours who called Triple Zero (000). She has been transported to hospital for assessment.
As a ‘sudden death’ investigation police declared a crime scene at the house to assist with their forensic examinations and detectives from Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating.

Officers from the Brisbane Region had the privilege of celebrating the 550th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikh religion, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, alongside hundreds from across the local Sikh community.
The anniversary is being celebrating by Sikhs across the world.

Our police not only had the chance to visit the Brisbane Sikh Temple for its annual Neighbourhood Open Day, but also the opportunity to attend special Langars (community kitchens) serving free traditional vegetarian meals to the masses in Brisbane’s North Side and King George Square.

 
During the annual open day, officers were treated to a series of presentations, reflections and insights by Elders from across the faith, as well as the opportunity to engage with leaders from various organisations in celebrating the Sikh faith.

Local Sikh leader Jatinder Kaur said they want to use the historic anniversary as an opportunity to show others in the community what their religion is all about.

Police have charged a man living in Melbourne in relation to a robbery in Runcorn in August.
On November 14, detectives from Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch travelled to Melbourne after a 37-year-old man had been located and arrested by Victoria Police in relation to a robbery that occurred in Runcorn on August 29.
It will be alleged, around 12.50pm on August 29, on Woorabinda Street, Runcorn, a woman was pushed and had a shoulder bag containing a large quantity of cash stolen by the man who then fled on foot and was last seen in Kalanda Street.
Investigations identified a person of interest who had relocated to Victoria.
A search warrant executed by Victorian detectives resulted in stolen property and evidence of the offence being located at the man’s residence.
The man’s extradition to Queensland was granted by Melbourne Magistrates Court. He is due to re-appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

On Saturday, November 16, McHappy Day took place in hundreds of local McDonalds restaurants across our great state.

Here in South Brisbane, officers from across the District once again jumped at the chance to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
Police partnered with the QPSA Police Recruits this year and officers attended six stores (Calamvale, Sunnybank, Mt Gravatt, Wishart, Eight Miles and Rochedale) with everyone taking the chance to  interact with the patrons, flipping a few burgers and conducting face painting for the children.
Senior Constable Clancy and PD Cluedo also made a guest appearance, much to the delight of everyone across the stores.
This year marks one of the biggest years yet for McHappy Day as they celebrate their 26th Anniversary and aim to raise a record three million dollars for RMHC.
