Crime alert: Unit complexes, Eight Mile Plains

Upper Mount Gravatt Police are currently investigating a number of break and enter offences in the Eight Mile Plains area.
Offenders are targeting unit complexes forcing entry to garage doors to gain entry to living areas and garaged vehicles.
Police are reminding the community to check that:

Garage doors are locked and secured;
Vehicles inside garages are locked and secured and all valuables removed including garage remote controls; and
Internal doors providing access from the garage to living areas are locked and
secured where possible and if no lock consider installing a lock for added security.

Burglary, Annerley

Police are investigating a burglary incident that occurred at Annerley yesterday evening.
Preliminary investigations indicate at about 10.50pm, three men forcibly entered a Clara Street address armed with metal bars.
The three men threatened a male occupant and removed a quantity of property from various rooms within the dwelling prior to leaving the scene with the property.
No one was injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Bus driver assault, Carindale

Detectives are investigating the assault of a bus driver at Carindale this morning.
At about 10am at the Carindale busway, four men entered a TransLink bus operated by a Redlands based company.
Three of the men were unable to pay for their fare and were denied entry to the bus. One of the men began swearing, resulting in the bus driver asking all four men to leave the bus.
As the four exited, one of the men punched the driver in the face causing a cut to his lip.
The four men then left the busway through a nearby shopping centre.
No one else was injured and investigations into the incident are continuing.

Superintendent celebrates Bastille Day

Yesterday Superintendent Joe Jaramazovic of the South Brisbane District had the pleasure to represent the QPS upon the French Multi-Role Vessel ‘D’Entrecasteaux’ by invitation of the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Matthieu Ruf.
A timely visit given that today is Bastille Day (French National Day). Bastille Day as we know celebrates the principles of Freedom, Equality and Fraternity.
Brisbane has been enjoying ‘Le French Festival’ in West End and SouthBank (7-9 July 2017) over the past week.
Also on the visit were the French honorary consul and members of the Australian Navy.

Rape charge, Brisbane

A 37-year-old Aspley man has been charged following investigations into the alleged rape of a teenage girl who was using a ride sharing service in Brisbane last week.
Detectives will allege the man was the driver of a ride sharing vehicle when the incident occurred in Brisbane’s south around 8.30pm on July 7.
The man has been charged with one count of rape and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
The matter is unrelated to a similar offence which occurred in Brisbane last week.
Detectives believe there could be other victims who have been assaulted in similar circumstances and are appealing for them to report the matter to police.

Dogs on Patrol this weekend at Camp Hill State School, South Brisbane

Dogs on Patrol has proven to be a wonderful program elsewhere and the combined efforts of several South Brisbane Neighbourhood Watch Groups hope to build on that success with their program.
The launch of the program will be held be 10am until noon on Sunday July 16 at the Camp Hill State School cricket oval.
The day will feature displays by the RSPCA, Brisbane City Council, Pet Suppliers, Groomers, Dog Obedience Schools, Dog Sitters and Walkers. Local police and NHWQ groups will be on hand to discuss how you and your dog can help to keep your neighbourhood safe and learn about safety. Who knew something as simple as walking your dog can contribute to community safety?
There will be a Dog Agility and Dog Show as part of the day and you can also pick up your own ‘Dogs on Patrol’ dog tag and have the NHWQ members engrave for you.

Police officer stood down, Brisbane Region

A 34-year-old male Constable from Brisbane Region has been stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service and will be tasked to perform non-operational duties.
The officer is the subject of an investigation regarding an alleged public nuisance offence.
In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.
This does not mean that the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.

Update 2: Serious assault, Bulimba

Police have laid additional charges against a man following the alleged serious assault of a 21-year-old woman at Bulimba on July 2 and subsequent incidents in the lead up to his arrest yesterday.
Around 10.30am on July 2, police attended a Brisbane Road residence where the woman was located with multiple life-threatening injuries.
She was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where she still remains in an induced coma.
Police attended the vicinity of Buddina Street in Stafford at about 5pm yesterday to speak with a man, who is known to the woman, in relation to the investigation.
It will be alleged the man rammed two police vehicles which has disabled his own car. The man has then pulled a woman from her car and driven off.
The car was tracked by Polair to Nundah where he abandoned the car before he allegedly stole another car which he then crashed into a gate

Update – Fatal traffic crash, Jindalee

A woman has died following a two vehicle traffic crash at Jindalee last Thursday afternoon.
Around 1pm, a red Holden sedan was travelling east on Seventeen Mile Rocks Road when it crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a white Nissan Murano headed in the opposite direction.
The crash occurred on a bend just west of the Centenary Highway overpass bridge.
A 98-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was transported to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital but died yesterday from injuries sustained in the crash.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or people that have relevant dash cam vision to contact them.

Yesterday, July 10, police have attended the vicinity of Buddina Street, Stafford at about 5pm to speak with a man, who is known to the woman, in relation to the investigation.
It will be alleged the man has rammed two police vehicles which has disabled his own car. The man has then pulled an elderly woman from her car and driven off in her car.
The car was tracked by polair to Nundah where he has left the car he was driving. At the intersection of Parkland and Sandgate Road he has stolen another car
