Armed robbery, Middle Park

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a Middle Park this afternoon (January 12).
At about 1pm, a 17-year-old girl walking along Sumners Road was confronted by four men in a white dual cab utility.
One of the men exited the vehicle and threatened the girl with what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money.
The four men fled the scene a short time later in the vehicle with a quantity of cash.
The girl was not physically injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Serious traffic crash, Inala

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating a single-vehicle crash which occurred this morning at Inala.
Initial inquiries indicate around 10:15am a white Holden Commodore sedan travelling southbound along Rosemary Street has veered to the right side of the road and subsequently hit a tree.
The female driver and male passenger (the only occupants in the vehicle) were transported to hospital with the driver in a stable condition and the passenger suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Investigations are continuing.

Armed robbery, Riverhills

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a Riverhills service station early this morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate that around 2.30am, two men have forced their way into the Sumners Road business by smashing the glass doors.
The men jumped the counter and threatened the store attendant with a hammer and a machete, striking his head with a hammer.
The men then took the till containing a sum of cash from the business and fled the scene in a stolen white Mazda 3. A third man was driving this vehicle.
The store attendant sustained minor injuries.
Investigations are continuing.

Scam alert: Neighbourhood Watch imposter

Police have received reports of a scam in which the caller claims to be from Neighbourhood Watch.
The calls are being made from a Queensland landline number with the caller asking for donations. When the caller is questioned about which Neighbourhood Watch Group they are representing, the call is abruptly ended.
Please keep in mind there are a number of legitimate community groups, local business and charity groups that regularly make calls looking for donations. Offenders pose as members of these groups to make calls to residents or businesses trying to scam money.
This is a timely reminder to be vigilant with your personal details and bank details. If you receive a call of this nature ask questions like what is the caller’s name, contact phone number, business name, what are the donations for, and any alternative payment methods.

Update 5: Evade police, Maryborough

Police have released a new image of a 19-year-old man who may be connected to a number of incidents in Brisbane and Maryborough which occurred last week.
It will be alleged on January 4, two men were in a stolen vehicle travelling on the Bruce Highway from Brisbane to Maryborough when it crashed at the corner of Edward and Russell Streets.
At 3.20pm, the men allegedly attended a Caringa Street premises in Maryborough where they assaulted a 63-year-old man, stole his car and then drove to Dundowran Beach where the vehicle was abandoned.
It will be further alleged that at 6.15pm the men entered the garage of a residence on Waterview Drive at Dundowran Beach and stole a white Mazda 6.
The vehicle was subsequently located on Boscombe Road at Brookfield on January 5.

Update 4: Evade police, Maryborough

A man has been charged following and number of alleged incidents where cars were stolen and driven at speed between Brisbane and Maryborough last week.
It will be alleged on January 4 the man and another man travelled in a stolen vehicle along the Bruce Highway to from Brisbane to Maryborough before crashing at the corner of Edward and Russell Street and fleeing the scene.
The men then allegedly attended an address on Caringa Street, Maryborough around 3.20pm where they assaulted a 63-year-old man and stole his car.
The victim sustained bruising as a result.
The men then allegedly drove to Dundowran Beach where the stolen vehicle was abandoned.
It will be further alleged that around 6.15pm the men entered the garage of a residence on Waterview Drive at Dundowran Beach and stole a white Mazda 6.
The vehicle was subsequently located on Boscombe Road at Brookfield on January 5.

Police are investigating an armed robbery incident which occurred at Upper Mount Gravatt early this morning (January 8).
At about 1.20am, two masked men armed with a firearm and a machete entered a licenced premises on Newnham Road.
The men threatened staff with the firearm and demanded cash.
The two men fled the scene a short time later with a quantity of money.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Suspicious building fire, Oxley

Police are investigating a suspicious building fire that occurred at Oxley this afternoon (January 7).
At about 3.30pm, police attended the premises on Seventeen Mile Rocks Road in relation to the building being on fire.
The eastern side the site was fully engulfed in flames however emergency services were successful in extinguishing the fire.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Seizure of wildfire, East Brisbane

Dutton Park police, in conjunction with the Department of Environment and Science, have charged a man following the discovery of two reptiles in East Brisbane.
As a result of a public tip off police executed a search warrant on a Lytton Road address yesterday afternoon.
Police will allege a search of the premises uncovered animals listed as protected under the Nature and Conservation Act.
The animals seized included an olive python almost three metres in length and weighing approximately 15kg and albino python almost two metres in length which were released into the care of the RSPCA and officials from the Department of Environment and Science.
It will be alleged police also located an improvised Taser, knuckledusters and drug utensils at the address.
A 41-year-old East Brisbane man has been given a Notice to Appear for restriction on keeping or using a taken protected animal, possess dangerous drugs, possess drug utensils and unlawful possession weapon.

Update 3: Evade police, Maryborough

Police searching for two men allegedly involved in a number of incidents in Brisbane and Maryborough on January 4 have arrested a man.
At around 5pm yesterday police located a Mazda 6, allegedly stolen from Dundowran Beach on January 4, abandoned on Boscombe Street in Brookfield.
Just after 10pm last night Wynnum police were conducting patrols when they saw a man travelling in a vehicle along Manly Road.
Officers intercepted the vehicle, in which the man was travelling as a passenger of a ride-sharing service, taking him into custody.
The driver who was not involved in the incidents was not taken into police custody.
An 18-year-old Carina man is currently in custody and is due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday, January 8.
Police continue to search for another man, believed to have been involved and are urging the public not to approach the man, but to contact police on Triple Zero (000).
