Attempted carjacking / wounding, Sunnybank Hills
Police are investigating a violent attempted carjacking that occurred at Sunnybank Hills this afternoon.
At about midday, a man armed with a knife entered a Hyundai Tuscon that was parked in a driveway on Stringybark Street and attempted to start the vehicle.
The female owner of the vehicle entered the car as the vehicle commenced backing down the driveway.
The man stopped the vehicle at the end of the driveway and ran towards a waiting white coupe that a second male offender was seated in.
A male occupant of the house chased after the man and reached inside the white coupe in an attempt to remove the car keys.
The male offender cut the man’s hand with a knife preventing him from getting the keys.
The male offenders fled the scene in the white coupe that was stolen some time on Tuesday night from a residence on Bernays Road at Wynnum West.

Eight Mile Plains hit hard
Offenders have struck early in 2018 hitting Eight Mile Plains hard, breaking into homes and stealing property and motor vehicles. These offences have occurred mainly in the vicinity of Warrigal Road and Underwood Road and stolen vehicles have then been used to commit further offences throughout the South Brisbane District.
Offenders are targeting insecure dwellings and vehicles and in some cases have disabled home security systems by disconnecting power sources. It remains all to common that reports are being made to police of offenders entering dwellings in which a front or rear door, window or garage was left open or insecure.
It is important to take home, vehicle and personal security seriously and to remain vigilant and aware. Complacency in home security can leave us vulnerable to offenders who target such opportunities. Some things to be aware of:
Lock and secure all external and internal doors and windows when leaving the house
Place vehicle
