Drug operation targets trafficking on Brisbane’s Southern Bay Islands
Police from Capalaba’s Tactical Crime Squad have charged six people with trafficking in dangerous drugs following the closure of Operation Papa Galosh which commenced in February 2017.
The operation targeted the supply and distribution of methyl amphetamine on several southern bay islands including Russell, Macleay and Lamb Islands.
Police executed 32 search warrants on addresses throughout Brisbane bayside during the operation, with methylamphetamine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and assorted stolen property located.
As a result of these raids, three men, aged 24, 32, 38 and three women, aged 29, 30, 36 from the southern bay islands were charged with trafficking, and other serious drug offences.
Those charged are due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court in the coming months.
To date 108 people have been charged on a total of 471 related offences, including six for trafficking and 200 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.

Holland Park officers go all terrain
Constable Georgia Smith and I from Holland Park Station were skilled-up yesterday to be able to drive the QPS side-by-side all terrain vehicles (ATVs).
Officers trained to drive these vehicles can use them for beach and park patrols, as well as for special events such as the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
It didn’t take too much to convince us to leave our leafy suburb of Holland Park and spend a day at the beach, travelling from Broadbeach to the Spit where part of the training involved driving the vehicles up and down sand dunes.
Some of the other crews at Holland Park sure did have a FOMO moment, but we are now back to the grind and coming to a park near you.
