Little Wishes Early Learning Centre visit , Carina Police

On Wednesday members from the Carina police station were invited to attend the Little Wishes Early Learning Centre in Carina to meet the children and staff.
This was a valuable opportunity for police to meet with those tiny members of our society and engage with them in surroundings that were comfortable to them.
Police addressed the eager crowd and were able to get out some road safety messages before the cavalcade or random questions, general statements and inaudible messages erupted from the kids.
Then it was time to explore the police car.
For many of the children it was the first ever exposure to a police car at such close quarters.
Tears and tantrums were set aside as the eager youngsters climbed over every inch of the police car and almost drained the battery by activating the emergency lights.
As always, the most popular experience for all was when the police radio operator spoke directly to

Fake Tradies scamming elderly

Police from Upper Mount Gravatt station are investigating concerns regarding fake tradies attempting to scam elderly and vulnerable residents.
Investigations show an increase in people attending homes and claiming to be tradies who can provide services, such as roof or driveway cleaning.
Often, they attend with equipment, utes and work clothing. A price is then agreed, and an arrangement is made for the payment of cash, which is exchanged with the agreement for the work to be performed at a later date.
Unfortunately, the scammers never return, or the work is substandard and not what was agreed. On some occasions scammers even have fake business cards made up.
Because the agreement is made verbally, without any record of what money and work was to be exchanged, it’s difficult for police to prove any wrongdoing for court purposes.
Residents are reminded all trade work performed at their home should be by a licensed worker who is

Vespers is the evening prayer of the Church and comes from the Divine Office, which is the official prayer book of the Church. From the very beginning of Christianity, Christians would sing or chant the psalms as the model of prayer to God, and from this practice grew the Divine Office which has different prayers for different times of the day.

Solemn Vespers for special feast days at the Brisbane Oratory.

The Church has long encouraged the public recitation of Vespers and the participation of the laity. Pius XII wrote that “ it is greatly to be desired that the laity participate in reciting or chanting vespers sung in their own parish on feast days.” Likewise the Second Vatican Council encouraged Vespers especially on Sunday’s: “Pastors of souls should see to it
