Women from QPS connect with multicultural communities
Senior Police Liaison Officer Mary Kenyi alongside new recruits Police Liaison Officers Nasra Aden and Yen Nguyen have recently been busy celebrating with our vibrant multicultural communities at two major events in the South Brisbane District.
The first program was hosted by the Australian African Women’s Network (AAWN) in recognition of International Women’s Day: Leave No Woman Behind at Africa House, Morningside.

The event featured addresses by Di Farmer the Minister for Child Safety, Youth and Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Saba Abraham the Founder of Mu’ooz Restaurant and Rose Alba Chairperson of AAWN.
This event was supported by the Queensland Government, ACCESS Community Services Ltd, Mu’ooz Restaurant, The Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma, and The Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland.
This initiative was a tremendous success and was a fantastic opportunity to highlight the unique challenges facing women across the African continent.

Callous theft demands community assistance
Hi folks, South Brisbane Police are seeking the assistance of the community to identify the two men in this photo.
Whilst it is not the best image, the circumstances in our interest to speak with them will most likely inspire you to help.
At about 4:30pm on Monday January 29, it is alleged a male victim was travelling with his push bike in the vicinity of Brisbane State High when he was tricked by the two individuals pictured into trusting them to look after his bicycle whilst he got a drink of water in the school.
On doing so they have taken off with the bike.
The victim was a vulnerable member of the community and his mum had to report the matter.
The bicycle is a General Lee BMX, bright orange in colour with ‘General Lee’ written in Blue writing.
