Police are investigating after a convenience store was robbed at Runcorn this evening.
At around 7pm, two men entered a shop on Beenleigh Road where one of the pair approached the counter, indicated he had a weapon and threatened a male employee.
One of the men then took products off the shelves and put them in his pockets while the other man filled a bag with packets of cigarettes and cash from the till.
The two men then fled the scene. No one was physically injured as a result of the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Policing diversity at the Queensland University of Technology
Officers from the South Brisbane Police District travelled to the Queensland University of Technology to speak to students studying Policing Diversity on Tuesday, September 10.

Sergeant Jim Bellos and his team spoke on diversity within the Service across the South Brisbane District, as well as the roles of the Cross Cultural Liaison Officer, the Police Liaison Unit and the many ways that the District is leading and innovating in the area of community engagement.
“We have an obligation to educate and share what we have learnt through our engagement programs with the next generation of leaders,” Sergeant Bellos told the students.
Whether it’s the through the Deep Blue Line, Young Emerging Leaders, Project Booyah or LifeSkills Program, we continue to break down barriers and set the benchmark in fostering peace and understanding across our culturally, religiously and linguistically diverse communities.

Morningside community day a great success
On Saturday September 7, residents of South Brisbane were treated to a family community day to celebrate 30 years of the Morningside Neighbourhood Watch 1 Camp 7 group working with local police to maintain a strong and connected community, reduce crime and improve community safety.
Police were overwhelmed with the attendance on Saturday, where our community were invited to see our Water Police and one of their operational boats, our Dive Squad with their operational truck showing the community all their great gear.
The Mounted Unit were there and showed off two of their much loved horses who stole the show with kids flocking to have a pat and say hi!
Local Morningside officers showed off one of our police vans to the kids who were all excited to check out the inside of a real police car!

Join us for Coffee with a Cop at Garden City
Personal safety is on the agenda for discussion with local police coming along to Garden City on Thursday September 12, between 5pm and 6.30pm.
This Coffee with a Cop will have a different flavour with police offering a Bubble Tea for those who would like to have a chat with police around local community concerns.
This community engagement opportunity falls within Operation Romeo Airtight which has been running since June and is about helping members of our community to both feel safe and be safe, and will provide a proactive education aspect to raise awareness on crime prevention strategies.
Police from Mount Gravatt along with crime prevention staff will be on hand to have a chat with local residents and provide information in relation to home security, business security, vehicle security, personal safety and more.

Wounding, South Brisbane
Police are investigating an incident in South Brisbane last night which resulted in a 17-year-old boy receiving life-threatening injuries.
At 8.30pm, officers were called to Clarence Street following reports the boy had received wounds consistent with being stabbed.
He was transported to the Princess Alexandra hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
Investigations are continuing by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch.

Rochedale community day
Rochedale Neighbourhood Watch organised the Rochedale Community Day held at Strawberry Fields Park on Sunday September 8.
For a relatively young Neighbourhood Watch Group, the day was a great success and residents in the local area turned up to participate and support the day and show their support of a safer community.
Neighbourhood Watch is clearly still bringing people together and contributing towards creating a sense of community.
Police were kept busy talking to parents and residents about home and vehicle security as well as personal safety.
The children loved a chat and a sticker and were treated to the siren on the police car and as always, the police motorbike was very popular but was in competition with the success of the baby animal farm.
Unfortunately police had to leave prior to the judging of the best dressed pooch, but we had already picked our favourite.

Crime alert, Rochedale and Macgregor
Police are encouraging residents in the suburbs of Macgregor and Rochedale to be aware and vigilant with their home and vehicle security, after recent reports of break and enters within the suburbs since the beginning of September.
Entry methods vary, however a common and persistent factor in these offences are unlocked doors/windows and vehicles with offences occurring predominately in the early morning hours.
Police are continuing to investigate these matters and anyone with information should contact police.

Update: Armed robbery, Wynnum West
Detectives investigating the armed robbery of a service station in Wynnum West on September 6 have charged a man.
Police will allege around 8:30pm a man entered the business at the intersection of Wynnum Road and Plaza Street, armed with a knife.
It will be further alleged he demanded money from a staff member, who complied with the man’s demands, before he fled the scene on foot.
No one was physically injured as a result of the robbery.
Police took a man into custody at an address in Manly West overnight.
A 30-year-old Wakerley man has been charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and enter premises and commit an indictable offence.
He is due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on September 9.

Update 3: Appeal for assistance and release of CCTV – Death investigation, Kalinga Park
Detectives investigating the death of 26-year-old Ioli Hadjilyra whose body was found in Kalinga Park on Wednesday, September 4 have released the name and image of a man who may able to assist with their investigation.
Bradley Edwards, 34 (pictured below) is described as Aboriginal, 190cm tall, slim build, black hair and brown eyes.
Police believe Mr Edwards may frequent within the inner-city and North Brisbane areas including Fortitude Valley, Nundah and Windsor.
Police are urging anyone who sights Mr Edwards or has any information regarding his current whereabouts to not approach him and to immediately call Triple Zero (000).

A crime scene has been established following the discovery of a woman’s body in an area off Diggers Road at Clayfield near Kalinga Park this morning.
Police were notified by a member of the public shortly before midday and are now investigating the circumstances.
Forensic specialists will be required to identify the person.
An Investigation Centre has been established at Hendra Police Station with assistance from the Homicide Investigation Unit.
Investigations are continuing.
