Christmas, police style

Christmas Day is almost here again for another year and it’s a time for people to stop and reflect on the year that’s coming to an end.
Upper Mount Gravatt Station has some great officers who I’ve shared some great experiences with over the year with the best and sadly the worst in the community.
Christmas Day normally involves each officer brining a plate of food to share amongst their blue family whilst they are away from their real families. The reality is that often the food is untouched until the end of the shift when officers have finished attending incidents.
We’ll still be out in force however across the festive season which includes Christmas Day and new years whilst the rest of the world celebrates.

As you’re sitting down on Christmas Day, enjoying (or enduring) the family time, please stop and think about the emergency service workers away from their homes and their

Christmas with A Touch of Compassion

A Touch of Compassion (ATOC) is a community organisation managed by Angela and Chris Chapman who provide assistance to community members who are experiencing hardship, social isolation and need for a helping hand.

On Sunday December 15, ATOC celebrated their annual Christmas With Compassion Dinner. Many families braved the hot sweltering day to attend the iconic event at the Inala Flexi Learning Centre.
Chris Chapman said it was great to so many people supporting and assisting throughout the day, with many volunteers making light work to ensure the day ran smoothly.

Even Santa himself made a special appearance to distribute presents for the children, arriving at the event in Queensland Police vehicle.
Angela Chapman said it was a great day for the community to come together and enjoy the abundance of food.
“We have been working for many years with Inala Police who have been great supporters of A Touch of Compassion,” Ms Chapman said.

Who will be your lift legend this Christmas?

Morningside Police are urging all road users that during this festive season and police will be out and about ensuring that all motorists are safe across the division.
If you are doing the right thing, you will have nothing to worry about and the officers on patrol will wish you well, however every poor driving behaviour on our roads will have a consequence.
This road safety reminder comes at a good time, given Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating and Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services, the Honourable Mark Ryan MP officially launched Operation Romeo Sleigh earlier this month.
Assistant Commissioner Keating said Operation Romeo Sleigh will focus on keeping Queensland road users safe over the busy seven-week period.
“Operation Romeo Sleigh will be in effect as of Friday, December 13, and will continue right through until the first week of school is complete on Friday, January 31,” Assistant Commissioner Keating said.
