Hung Nguyen, originally from Adelaide and more recently from Melbourne, has been an enquirer to our community for some time. In recent months he has been in residence with us in Brisbane. Following his formal application to join we happily received him as a novice. In many Oratories, some members decide to take new names and in order to mark this change in his life, Hung asked to receive a new name and was given the name John Henry.

Suspicious behaviour, Morningside
Police investigating the alleged suspicious behaviour of a man on a Brisbane train in April have released images of a person who may be able to assist with their investigations.
Between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Wednesday, April 24 a man was travelling on a southbound Cleveland line train between Roma Street and Morningside rail stations when he allegedly acted inappropriately towards a woman.
The woman was not physically injured.

Armed robbery, Upper Mount Gravatt
Police have charged a man following an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Upper Mount Gravatt this morning.
It will be alleged around 9:30am a man smashed the display window of a jewellery store with a hammer, stealing stock and fleeing on foot.
The man was subsequently detained by security until police arrived and took the man into custody.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
A 24-year-old Avondale man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, wilful damage, enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of a knife in a public place.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

QPS celebrates with the local Philippine community
On Saturday, May 26, The Philippine Multicultural festival took place at the Sunnybank State High School.
Hosts, Mauro and Cecilia Somodio welcomed special guests: Mr Graham Perrett MP, Mr. Peter Russo MP and Cr Angela Owen.
Representatives from the South Brisbane District Police Liaison Unit were also in attendance to officially kick off this annual event.
Despite the cool weather, attendance soared throughout the day. The festival featured several food stalls, folk music and dance performances along with information stalls by several local businesses and not-for-profit organisations.
