The month of May is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and some officers from the Vulnerable Persons Unit have organised an event at Westfield Carindale tomorrow.
The theme of the event is ‘Taking a step in the right direction’ where members of the public will be encouraged to walk on a treadmill for one minute. The aim of this is to raise awareness of domestic violence and literally take a step in the right direction towards ending violence in domestic and family settings.

Those who participate will go into a draw for prizes that will be drawn regularly throughout the day. Prizes have been sourced from shops within the Carindale complex.

Serious traffic crash, Mansfield
Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating are serious traffic crash at Mansfield this evening.
Preliminary inquiries indicate at about 7pm a black Mazda sedan was travelling on east on Wecker Road when it has left the roadway and collided with a power pole and then a fence.
The driver, a local man in his 60’s, has been transported to the Princess Alexandria Hospital in a critical condition.
The only passenger, a woman, was also transported to the Princess Alexandria Hospital with minor injuries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or people that have relevant dashcam footage to contact police.
Wheelie-popping motorcyclist snapped exceeding speed limit 10 times: police
A motorcyclist allegedly caught on speed cameras repeatedly exceeding the speed limit on a 100kph stretch of road in Brisbane is ordered to appear in court, while the unregistered vehicle is confiscated by Queensland police.
