This Father’s Day, Sunday September 2, Rochedale residents are invited to come along and have a Coffee With a Cop at the Flying Pepper Café on Kate Circuit, Rochedale.
Between 8am and 9.30am, police will be on hand in their Mobile Police Community Office ready to have a chat with residents about any crime concerns and to provide security information and brochures.
So if you’re out and about and up for a coffee, this could be a great way to start your Father’s Day activities.

At around 2.15pm on Sunday August 27, a highly agitated man was seen to be entering yards in and around Piers Street, Moorooka.
He was observed shaking gates and jumping over numerous fences into adjoining yards and even climbing onto roofs of sheds.
Members of the public were witness to these events and subsequently contacted police.
Police crews were soon on the scene, and after a struggle, the man was placed in custody.
The 38-year-old Bridgeman Downs man was treated at the scene and subsequently conveyed to hospital for further treatment.
Investigations are continuing and police thank the community for keeping an eye on their streets and contacting police.

Pedestrians share the road with vehicles, but have no protection in an impact.
In 2017, 35 pedestrians died and 357 were hurt or seriously injured in crashes on Queensland roads.
Pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility for all road users.
Pedestrians should stop, look and listen before crossing the road.
Be aware of your surroundings and avoid distractions like headphones and mobile phones.
Use designated crossings wherever possible, as this is where drivers and riders are expecting you to cross.
Be aware and cross with care.
Vehicles must be prepared to give way to pedestrians and be aware of crossings, refuges and traffic signals where pedestrians may cross.
Travel at a speed that allows you to stop safely at these when needed.
Reduce your speed at night around entertainment venues where people gather.
Observe school zone speed restrictions and travel carefully in other areas with children, such as around playgrounds.

A man has been arrested following a police operation in Calamvale this morning.
Around 8.50am specialist police attended a Gowan Road address where the man was taken into custody without incident.
The man was wanted for questioning in relation to armed robbery offences that occurred earlier in the year.
A 38-year-old man is assisting police with inquiries relating to armed robbery offences in July at Calamvale and Sunnybank Hills in March.
Investigations are continuing.

Detectives investigating an alleged assault that left a man with severe facial fractures in Fortitude Valley earlier this month are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
Around 1.43am on Sunday August 5, an altercation occurred involving a large group of people outside licensed premises in Ann Street resulting in a 21-year-old man sustaining facial injuries.
Anyone in the area during 1.30am and 2am on August 5 who may be able to assist with investigations, particularly pedestrians with mobile phone footage or road users with dash cam vision, is urged to contact police.
Investigations into the alleged incident are continuing.

The Queensland Police Service have located the two-year-old boy who was taken from a South Brisbane medical facility at 8.10pm yesterday.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey, along with Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services, the Honourable Mark Ryan and Commissioner Ian Stewart, have issued an urgent plea to Queensland motorists in the lead up to this year’s Queensland Road Safety Week.
Queensland Road Safety Week is a joint initiative of the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Police Service working in collaboration with RACQ and CARRS-Q.
The road toll as of 8am this morning was 14 more than this time last year, with 166 lives lost so far.
Mr Bailey urged motorists to consider the risks of unsafe driving every time they got behind the wheel.
“We are preparing for our fourth annual Queensland Road Safety Week next week, but driving safely is a year-round responsibility for all motorists,” Mr Bailey said.
“Last year, distraction, drink driving and riding, fatigue, speeding and not wearing a seatbelt were a factor in 56%

This year Police from Brisbane Crime Prevention units and Brisbane Bike squads would like to invite everyone to join us on Friday, August 31.
Police will host a pop-up table at the Goodwill Bridge providing road safety tips and also have your chance to tell us about road safety and speak up for road safety. Information about bike and vehicle security will also be available.
We will be there between 10am to 12pm. Please join us, join the drive to make the road safer.

Each year Detectives from Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) take a group of young child survivors who have been a victim of abuse out for a day of adventure. This year we had 12 wonderful children aged between 12 to 17 years of age.
The day started with a yummy breakfast at Bracken Ridge McDonalds. After breaky the kids then jumped back in the Police bus and headed to Australia Zoo.
The children were given entry and VIP treatment from the zookeeper with getting up and close with some of the animals. The kids also got to feed the Kangaroo’s and see some Joey’s in the mother’s pouch.
After feeding the animals it was off to the Crocoseum to watch the big croc in action. One of the kids said “I feel like a king” as he entered the Crocoseum.
