Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial and Cyber Crime Group have charged a man following a protracted investigation into alleged card skimming offences.
As part of Operation Quebec Olympic it will be alleged the 31-year-old Brazilian born French national currently in Australia on a student visa attached deep insert skimming devices to Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) across Brisbane.
The man was arrested on July 12 this year after detectives executed a search warrant on a Leichhardt Street address in Spring Hill where it will be alleged they located $22,100 in cash, laptops and hard drive, five ATM deep insert skimming devices, two false ATM ceiling panels with attached pin hole cameras and associated electronics including SD cards and batteries.
It will further be alleged an electronic card reader and writer, numerous blank iTunes cards and gift cards, bag of tools and electronic equipment associated with card skimming were also located.

Break and enter offences, Rochedale
Police continue to increase patrols in Rochedale following break and enter offences being reported.
Residents are urged to make sure their homes are adequately secured and garage doors are closed.
Opportunistic offenders are drawn to open doors, windows and garages. Do not create opportunities for offenders to take advantage of you.
Lock all doors and security screens – including garage doors
Lock or secure all windows especially those without security screens
Remove all spare motor vehicle keys from your motor vehicle
Remove all property from your motor vehicle – including GPS
Ensure your motor vehicle is locked and secured

Update 2: Fatal traffic crash, Eight Mile Plains
Forensic Crash Unit officers investigating a fatal traffic crash at Eight Mile Plains on May 15 this year are appealing for the owner of dashcam vision that was supplied to Crime Stoppers to please come forward.
The vision was captured by a dashcam in a car travelling north on Logan Road at 9.39am at the intersection prior to the crash.
This vision has proved vital for investigators and although police appreciate Crime Stoppers is an anonymous way to provide information, in this instance police would like to speak with the person who sent in the video.
At 9.40am a Honda Civic travelling north in the southbound lanes of Logan Road collided with a Hyundai sedan travelling north on Logan Road as it attempted to turn right near Levington Road onto the Gateway Motorway.
The driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Dangerous drugs and weapons seized during Operation Kinetic closure, Brisbane
Detectives have made significant arrests as part of a four-month operation targeting the distribution of methylamphetamine (ICE) and other drugs by a syndicate across Brisbane.
Between May 23 and September 1, police from the Brisbane City Criminal Investigation Branch conducted Operation Kinetic, culminating in a total arrest of 28 persons on 164 charges, including three offences of trafficking.
Approximately 1kg of ICE was allegedly seized along with a large quantity of dangerous drugs located during the operation.
Cash and property was also seized totalling around $270,220, including a stolen Mercedes and Audi.
Notably, eight firearms including shotguns, numerous handguns and a conducted electrical weapon, as well as a sword and knife were seized.
Two 33-year-old men from East Brisbane and a 30-year-old man from Fitzgibbon will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court later this month charged with multiple offences.

Rochedale Family Fun Day
On Sunday, September 9, Rochedale residents joined in the festivities of the Neighbourhood Watch Family Fun day at Strawberry Fields, Kate Street, Rochedale .
Police and Volunteers in Policing (VIPs) explained to residents about home security, vehicle security and other crime prevention strategies to be aware of in their community.
It was great to see such a large turn out of residents, who took advantage of the sunny day to get into the community spirit.

Police have declared a crime scene at Kangaroo Point cliffs after a member of the public located what are believed to human remains around 10am today.
An investigation has been commenced to establish the identity of those remains.

Chinese Speaking Police Liaison Officers from South Brisbane District were honoured to be to invited to the 2018 Toohey Multicultural Award ceremony hosted by the State Member for Toohey, Peter Russo MP at the Sunnybank Bowls Club on Friday, September 7.
To their surprise, they were recognised for their outstanding contributions and service to our local multicultural community as part of the formal ceremony.
Senior Police Liaison Officer Ken Rong and Li Shan Huang humbly accepted the Multicultural Award from Peter Russo MP on behalf of the Chinese speaking Police Liaison Officer team and South Brisbane Districts Cross Cultural Liaison Officer – Sergeant Jim Bellos APM.
“I am extremly proud of our Chinese speaking PLOs,” Sergeant Bellos said.
“We are fortunate to have them as part of the most culturally diverse Liaison team in the great state of Queensland.”

Burglary and stolen vehicle, Eight Mile Plains
Detectives are seeking assistance to help locate a vehicle stolen during the burglary of an address in Eight Mile Plains this afternoon.
Around 5.30pm, two men were disturbed by the occupant of the Narrun Place residence who returned to find their 2012 silver Mercedes C180 Coupe in the driveway.
As the occupant approached the residence a white Mazda 3 parked in the street accelerated away at speed.
A short time later the two men used car keys to reverse the Mercedes which was then stolen along with a large quantity of jewellery.
Anyone with information on the stolen Mercedes C180 Coupe with Queensland registration VIC203 is asked to contact police.
No one was injured during the incident and investigations are continuing.
