Attempted murder charge, Pallara

Acacia Ridge detectives have charged a man with attempted murder following the alleged assault of a 25-year-old woman at Pallara this morning.
Police attended a car park in Ritchie Road around 4.30am where a seriously injured woman was located. She was transported to hospital with critical injuries.
Police investigations resulted in the charging of a 31-year-old Pallara man. He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow, October 8.
The man and woman are known to each other.

Robbery with violence, Calamvale

Detectives are investigating after a man and woman were assaulted and robbed at Calamvale earlier tonight.
Around 7.45pm two men attended a Perkins Street residence to purchase a laptop and mobile phone from the occupants.
Once inside the two men have physically assaulted a 27-year-old man.
The second occupant, a 28-year-old woman, locked herself in an upstairs bathroom until one of the attackers broke down the door before threatening her with a firearm.
The two men then attempted to steal a number of items from the residence before fleeing prior to police arriving.
Investigations are continuing.

Stealing arrest in Carindale

On Saturday, September 29, police arrested two women after they allegedly committed a series of shop stealing offences in several major shopping centres.
It will be alleged the women stole approximately $20,000 of medium to high end women’s clothing in the shopping centres.
Investigations to date have established offenders fly into South East Queensland from interstate, hire rental vehicles and travel to large retail outlets typically in SE Queensland and steal large quantities of women’s clothing over a very short period.
The offenders then fly back interstate. These offenders were highly organised, targeted, well planned and the offenders are suspected of being part of a larger interstate based syndicate targeting retails outlets.
A 48-year-old Marrickville woman has been charged with nine counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence and one count of unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.

A great day at the Queensland Police Bowls Championships!

From September 29 to October 1, the Queensland Police Bowls Club Championships were held at the Paradise Point Bowls Club, Gold Coast.
The bowls club consists of current and former police officers, and non police officers can also join the club as associate members.
20 players competed in singles and pairs games.

Senior Constable Matt Tonkin, attached to Bargara Station, was the standout current officer in making it to the semi-finals of the singles competition.
Senior Constable Tonkin has previously won the singles title at the 2016 Police and Emergency Services Games.
The winner of the singles competition was a new associate member Peter Thompson and winner of the pairs were Bob Watts and Graeme Morris, another new associate member.
The club championships was the first time in recent memory that the Queensland Police Bowls Club has held a championships carnival and organisers have deemed this event to be a success.

Armed robbery, Calamvale

Detectives are investigating following an armed robbery in Calamvale and an attempted armed robbery in Sunnybank Hills overnight.
At around midnight a woman was driving along Azalea Crescent when a red hatchback stopped in front of her car.
A male passenger and male driver exited the hatchback and produced handguns before demanding the woman’s car and fleeing the scene in both vehicles.
No one was physically injured during the robbery.
The stolen vehicle is described as a silver 2015 Toyota Camry with Queensland registration 850-VVD (similar to pictured).
The men are described as being aged in their 20s or 30s with dark complexions and short dark hair.
The younger man is described as being of a slim build.
Preliminary investigations indicate the same red hatchback may have been involved in a similar incident on The Avenue in Sunnybank Hills at around 11:30pm last night.

Updated – Statement on Constable Peter McAulay condition

The Queensland Police Service has confirmed that Constable Peter McAulay will be moved from Princess Alexandra Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit to a specialised ward tomorrow after showing encouraging signs of improvement.
Peter is now listed as stable, however will require intensive treatment for critical injuries received at Booval last week.
Thank you very much to the community for your support and well wishes for Peter, his family, friends and colleagues.
At the moment, the focus of family, friends and colleagues is on Peter and his ongoing treatment, we ask that the media respect their privacy at this very difficult time.

Robbery with violence, Parkinson

Detectives investigating after a man and woman were threatened with a knife and their car stolen at Parkinson home this afternoon have released CCTV images of a man they believe can assist their inquiries.
Around 5.15pm a man jumped the back fence of an Albert Place residence before entering and confronting the occupants inside.
The man then armed himself with a knife before threatening the pair and demanding keys to a Toyota Corolla which he then fled in.
No one was injured during the incident.
The vehicle was located dumped an hour later in the carpark of a Browns Plains Road shopping centre at Browns Plains.
Initial investigations indicate the man was picked up by a yellow vehicle also believed to have been stolen and last seen travelling into Grand Plaza Drive.
As part of investigations to identify the man any members of the public who may have witnessed the incident are asked to contact police.

Formation Continues

It has been a great blessing over the past months to have our whole community home in Brisbane.  We had the joy of welcoming Brother John Henry amongst us;  Brothers Tyson, Conor and Matthew were instituted as Acolytes;  we held another successful dinner celebrating the third anniversary since Archbishop Coleridge established us as an Oratorian community-in-formation;  we had several Solemn High Masses whilst we had available the necessary number of sacred ministers;  to name just a few of the things that have been happening.
At the end of August Brother John Henry made the journey to Toronto, to begin his canonical novitiate in the Oratory there, where he’ll continue on to do his philosophy studies. He reports that he is learning the ropes over there and settling into the rhythm of his classes.  This semester he will be studying the life of Saint Philip, the Excellences of the Oratory, the Constitutions of the Oratory, and also Latin.  He has also

QPS and Microsoft deliver Cyber-Safety Awareness

Officers from the Queensland Police Service, along with representatives from Microsoft Australia, led a special cyber-safety presentation to parents and community members from the Islamic College of Brisbane in Karawatha late last month.
The initiative, ThinkUKnow, is a joint Australian Federal Police and Microsoft program that seeks to educate young people and parents about the dangers of online activities and provide resources to minimise the impact of such dangers through education based cyber-safety awareness.
Acting Senior Sergeant Darnielle Fioriti and industry expert Grant Clayton addressed some of the issues that young people are facing when using modern Information Communication Technology, including phishing scams, online relationships and cyber-bullying.

Dr Ray Barrett, the Principal of Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB) said that he was impressed with the effort the parents have made especially to attend the event.

Attempted murder charge, Acacia Ridge

Police have charged a man with attempted murder following an alleged assault in Acacia Ridge yesterday evening.
Officers were called to an address on Gemstone Crescent at around 7:20pm following reports a woman had been assaulted.
On arrival officers located an injured woman at the intersection of Gemstone Crescent and Gregory Street.
Police rendered first aid to the woman until paramedics arrived on the scene.
The 26-year-old woman was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition for treatment of stab wounds to her upper body and head.
A man, who was known to the woman, was taken into custody at an address on Gemstone Crescent without incident a short time later.
A 36-year-old Kingston man has been charged with attempted murder, assault occasioning bodily harm and enter dwelling with intent.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
