Police join new campaign to curb Ice

Police joined Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to launch a new campaign as part of an Ice Strategy in Queensland. There are two targets of the campaign: cutting supply and treating those who need help.
The Premier said police efforts will be matched with a new Ice Help campaign to treat those addicted to the drug.
“We often hear of people being lost to Ice, that there is no remedy or return from this drug,” the Premier said.
“We want all Queenslanders to know it is possible to recover and lead a productive life.”
The campaign features six former addicts and their families who tell their stories not just of how they fell into the grip of the drug but how they got out if it. A helpline 1800 177 833 and new 24/7 Ice Help website give more support.
Police Minister Mark Ryan said specialist police are already hitting drug labs and dealer networks.

Living in Queensland, unpredictable and powerful storms are a part of life. Even though we’re used to it, we still need to make sure we’re prepared for any serious situations and emergencies arising from inclement weather.
Stay safe during the storm season:

Take note of storm warnings via social media, mainstream news reporting or the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) website;
Have an evacuation plan ready in case you need to leave;
Keep a storm kit handy and make sure it includes portable light sources for if the power goes out, a first aid kid for minor injuries, and a portable heating source to cook meals; and
Always have a stock of bottled water handy in case the local water supply is affected.

Cyclones, hail storms and thrashing winds can cause power outages and even bring down power

For me, Parkrun has become a huge part of my life so bringing these two worlds together worked well.
Despite the threat of rain, we saw 300 keen Cops and Robbers cross the finish line.
In addition, officers from recruiting were there to give away some goodies and answer questions about policing careers.
Officers from the Public Safety Response Team (PSRT) were there for members of the pubic to try on their riot gear, Dog Squad officers attended to show what they can do and Road Policing officers let people sit on their police motorcycles.
