The South Brisbane Police Muslim Youth Program was started in August 2018 and youth from the program recently participated in a three day leadership and team building camp held on the Sunshine Coast.
Police officers from Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU), Mount Gravatt and Inala PCYC’s and supporting members actively participated with the youth members in a variety of team building and leadership activities including high ropes, leadership events, obstacle courses and the giant flying fox.
It was great to see the youth helping police officers scale the high log!
The 12 week program aims to build positive relationships between police and youth.
The structured program aims at building new life skills, focusing on self esteem, personal development and team work.
Well done to all the course participants!

Water police are appealing for public assistance to speak with the owner of a kayak which was located today at South Brisbane.

A short time later the kayak was seen drifting unattended and water police subsequently located the kayak wedged beneath a pontoon near Mowbray Park.
A double ended aluminium paddle with blue blades was located on the pontoon (pictured).

We are one, but we are many!
West End Station is represented by a lot of different countries as first generation, second and third generations from England, New Zealand, Iran, Croatia, China, Russia, United States of America, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Netherlands, Greece and of course, Australia!
To celebrate the many cultures that make up West End Station and the diversity of Australia, general duties officers and support staff brought in food from their country of origin to enjoy an international food day.
The foods on offer were Adas Polow (Iranian lental rice), Malaysian chicken curry, Indian chicken curry, Chinese fortune cookies, English scones, Barmbraic (Irish fruitcake), Baklava (Greek dessert), Leche flan (Malaysian dessert), Winter hats (Croatian dessert) and the popular sausage on bread (Australian snag sanga).
West End Station would also like to pay respect to the Traditional Owners, and ongoing custodians of the land – the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people – and specifically the Kurilpa Tribe of West End.
Murray and Frank come to Cannon Hill
Police with some scary friends
Cannon Hill Kmart Plaza was filled with ghosts and goblins of all sizes and shapes on Saturday for the annual Halloween Spectacular.
There were potion brewing lessons or you could make your own snake or eyeball.
Murray and Frank have attended to keep the watch on the kids.
There were lots of activities in the Riverside area over the past weekend with the Morningside State School Fete and the Wynnum Halloween event also occurring.
Police bring Toby to Picnic in the Park
Morningside Police and Toby, the Morningside Police Station mascot, got a good work out at the Morningside Picnic in the Park last weekend.
The event was organised with Morningside 3 Neighbourhood Watch and attracted a great turn out of mums and dads with their young kids.
The event raised funds for our local Scouts group and provided a great day out for all! Toby’s adventure started with Dave, one of our local all rounder police with a ride on one of our Brisbane Water Police speed boats!
Toby got to see the sights just like our water police do every day in our Brisbane River and coastal areas. Dave was an excellent driver and could be looking for a career as a water police officer.
Toby then got a talk with the kids from our local Dive Squad officers and helped with the presentation from Diver Dan, getting an ‘up close and personal’ view
