Protect yourself: Don’t be caught out by scammers offering cheap products online

Upper Mount Gravatt detectives have charged an 18-year-old man with one robbery offence and eight fraud related offences.
It will be alleged the offences occurred in the suburbs of Kuraby, Runcorn, and Eight Mile Plains. He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 4.
The offences relate to an advertisement that was placed on Facebook Marketplace for the sale of a mobile phone in September.
The advertisement was answered on Facebook by a potential buyer and arrangements were made for the seller to meet the buyer with cash at a nominated address.
Upon meeting at the address the alleged offender has asked the buyer for the cash up front without producing the goods for sale.
The alleged offender told the buyer that he did not have time to show the product to the buyer.
The buyer handed over the cash and the alleged offender has left in a hurry leaving the buyer
